  1. From the files shared with you, download the Installation File that corresponds with your operating system:

  5. Select “Yes” to install IBM SPSS Statistics - Essentials for Python → Next
  6. Accept the terms → Next
  7. Accept the terms again → Next
  8. Choose a file destination and click Next, or just simply select Next again to use default folder
  9. Select “Install”
  10. Select Start SPSS Statistics 25 License Authorization Wizard now → Finish

Note: Students who have MacOS Big Sur on their devices should get help from the Technology Help Desk rather than trying to perform the install themselves.

Download Instructions

  1. Visit https://help.luther.edu from a web browser on your computer and sign in with your Luther Norse Key username and password.
  2. Click on “Downloads” located on the left hand side of the screen.
  3. Select “IBM SPSS Statistics 25 (Windows)” or “IBM SPSS Statistics 25 (macOS)” depending upon your operating system.
  4. Click “Download”.

  3. Open SPSS Statistics 25 'License Authorization Wizard'.

  6. After authorization finishes, restart your computer.

  1. Double click on the SPSS_Statistics_25_mac.dmg and then double click on SPSS_Statistics_Installer
  2. When asked to install 'Essentials for Python' choose Yes.
  3. OS 10.15 (Catalina) only:
    1. When prompted, un-check 'Start SPSS Statistics 25 License Authorization Wizard now' and then click Done to finish the core install.
    2. Afterwards, go back to help.luther.edu, download and run the Catalina patch.
    3. After you've run the patch, run the 'SPSS Statistics' application (in your Applications folder inside the IBM sub-folder
    4. When you first open the application, it will ask you to license application. Continue with the licensing steps below
  4. Choose 'Authorized User License' and click Next.
  5. Enter the Product Key found on the SPSS Download page (help.luther.edu) and click Next.
  6. After authorization finishes, restart your computer.
